My favorite new band The Graves (@TheGraves) website goes live tonight (Mon 19.Sept.2011 at 00.01 EDT -4UTC) with the debut of the music video for "Beach Song" at the link above. Unique and well written songs by brothers Sean, Chris and Kevin Graves make this band's songs infectious so you've been warned if you get hooked! The detail devoted to recording is refreshing to me. Months spent in studio (Eddie Ponce as 1st engineer at The Den Recorders) have resulted in the sound soon to mastered to red-book audio for CD and as iTunes codec. Their mastery of music video is encouraging as well especially in the highly original and beautiful video for "So Soon" (Directed, shot and edited by Christian Fortune @christian4tune). So overall I'm definitely staying up tonight to get first look at the "Beach Song" music video which will showcase all this hard work coming together. Advice: You should join in with me.

Blake Griffin "The Beast"
Finally ESPN does a Blake Griffin best 10 plays highlight reel. It is a must watch. I have no idea of the future of the Clippers but this much is in little doubt: IF Mr. Griffin remains healthy his potential ceiling is cause to watch a 3 win team even right now.

Thank You Mr. President
I had almost forgotten that our government was CAPABLE of acting on the biggest and most stubborn of problems facing us. It occurs to me this was passed on the first day of spring by the US House of Rep. (vernal equinox) and by the US Senate on the first day of winter (winter solstice).

Endeavour Comes Home
A stark and somewhat surreal photo of Endeavour on final approach to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida was posted last night shortly after the successful completion of the mission to install one of the final large sections of the ISS. This was the Tranquility module which included a large windowed cupola intended for aiding the astronauts in visual control and the station external robotic arms from inside the station.

President Obama's First Annual State Of The Union Address
This man is a great leader. I have never been more proud of my president in my lifetime. The address speaks for itself.

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This in my opinion is the single most powerful statement by President Obama of the unbroken links between today's fight for justice such as better access to health care and the much more perilous burdens Dr. King's generation and those preceding it had to bear. The video speaks for itself:

Weekly Address 16.Jan.2010
President Obama explains the bank fees he is pushing through to be applied to the largest financial firms that benefited from the TARP program and whose continued existence is largely a function of the massive assistance granted to it by the Treasury and Federal Reserve and ultimately the US taxpayers. This fee will complete the recovery of all of the 750B$ of TARP funds + interest over a period of 10 years and in my opinion if clearly sensible and entirely justified.

Fighting For Health Insurance Reform
I found this email with a video request from the White House today. Please take the time to read it and view the video. Use it inform the debate about health care this must indeed be done now or make no mistake, there will be no economic long term recovery or financial safety for anyone.

President Obama's Statement On Confirmation of Judge Sotomayor
The following is the President's statement on video after the 68-31 vote affirming Judge Sotomayor's appointment to be the 111th Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Judge Sotomayor is scheduled to be sworn in by Chief Justice Roberts this Saturday (9.Aug. 2009). She will become the first Hispanic justice of the court and only the third female justice. She is an affirmation to me that all is possible in the United States regardless of one's race, gender or station of birth. I can only imagine the source of pride she is to all people of Hispanic heritage and to all reasonable women regardless of their ideological disposition.

HST Jupiter Image

The Hubble Space Telescope was taken out of calibration mode today to image the new gigantic impact sight on Jupiter in the south polar region. The image was taken with the uncalibrated (and new) Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) in the visible spectrum. The illustration drawn on it by NASA clearly show degradation due to atmospheric turbulence in the impace sight which is larger than the planet earth.

President Throws Down Gauntlet On Health Care
One taken from the playbook of Lyndon Johnson who was the last president able to pass fundamental change legislation through congress (think Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, Medicare, Medicaid et al):

President Obama's Weekly Web Video (On House Passage Of Clean Energy Act)
This is an event likely to enter history alongside initial house or senate passage of Social Security, Civil Rights, Voting Rights, and Medicare. Please enjoy. I cannot approach here the simple grace and dignity of the president's video statement.

President Obama On "Public Option"
In answering a question from Jack Tapper (ABC) in yesterday's press conference I believe the president make a powerful and simple rationale for why he strongly urges an option for people to choose a health-care plan run by the federal government to compete with any/all private plans in the proposed "exchanges".

President Obama's Statement Re: Iran (Tuesday 23.Jun.2009)
The President today in his opening remarks to the sixth full press conference of his presidency made a powerful moral and literal case for the American people's outrage at the violent suppression of the freedom of assembly and speech by the Iranian government of it's own people. In my opinion this statement is far more powerful than the cheap and easy words of Senator McCain or his stooge Senator Graham. Please watch:
